Maison Maenad

Canadian-born Katie Worobeck spent five years learning the ropes with Jura legend Anne and Jean-François Ganevat before striking out on her own. Fast forward a few vintages, and Maison Maenad is one of those names in the Jura you’ll want to get to know.

Katie tends three hectares of secluded vines tucked away in the hills around Grusse, farming organically with biodynamic principles and plenty of attention to soil health and biodiversity. In the cellar, it’s all about keeping things simple: manual pressing, old barrels, gravity-fed transfers and no additions or filtration.

Named after the wild, free-spirited female followers of Dionysus, Maison Maenad is a fitting expression of Katie herself. Her wines are delicate, pure and full of finesse — nothing loud or showy, just thoughtful, beautifully made bottles that speak softly but leave an impression. Definitely one to have on your radar, and if you're lucky, one of to get your hands on.
