Mai & Kenji Hodgson
Originally from Montreal, Mai and Kenji Hodgson found their way to the Loire Valley, where they put down roots in Rablay-sur-Layon, Anjou, and started making wine in 2010. After training in Japan and learning the ropes alongside respected growers like Mark Angeli and Benoît Courault, they found their feet making wines that speak honestly of where they come from.
Working with Chenin Blanc, Grolleau Noir and Cabernet Franc, Mai and Kenji believe good wine starts in the vineyard. They farm organically, work with old vines and distinctive soils, and keep things gentle in the cellar, letting the grapes and the place do the talking. The result? Wines with plenty of personality, from juicy, spice-kissed reds to beautifully layered Chenin Blancs that reward a little time in the glass. Nothing overworked, nothing trying too hard — just thoughtful, characterful wines that capture the spirit of Anjou.
