Emmanuel’s flagship cuvée, made from a massal selection planted in 1962 at 6,000 vines per hectare. Once bottled separately as Les Hauts Meuniers and Les Hauts Chardonnays, the two varieties come together here in a single expression of the site.
Perched at the top of Le Mont Benoit, the old vines root through shallow topsoil into deep Cretaceous chalk, giving the wine its distinctive mineral character, structure and tension.
Vinified in 350L barrels and left untouched for a year before bottling, it then spends six years ageing on its lees before disgorgement. Initially tightly wound, it slowly opens to reveal mirabelle, lemon and peach, with a generous texture, savoury backbone and beautifully chalky finish. A precise and energetic expression of Villers-aux-Noeuds.
