Marco Tinessa Ognostro Rosso 2021
Castelfranci and Montemarano / Campania // Italy
Ognostro is local Neapolitan slang for wine and literally means “ink”.
Aglianico is a grape variety that ripens very late – making it dark as ink. Marco consistently works with low yields to obtain ripe fruit. After harvest, the grapes are cooled for 1 to 2 days, de-stemmed and vinified in a stainless steel tank without any additives. The wine is never stored in barrel as Marco believe that oak does not suits Aglianico.
Soulful, zen-like and pure, this balances plush and black/red fruit with mystical layers of concentration and finesse. Aglianico at its most pure and unadorned.
Marco Tinessa grows Aglianico in low yields, somehow he is able to harvest later than most bringing out the ripeness of the grape without losing its characteristic integrated acidity.
