A little gem from Étienne Thiébaud, a winemaker as discreet as he is talented, cultivating just 5 hectares between Arbois and the Côtes du Jura. 

From the Les Messagelins parcel, this pure Chardonnay is aged for over 16 months in topped-up barrels on its fine lees—a patience that gives it depth and balance. 

Chardonnay from old vines grown on limestone, clay and marl soils, are hand-harvested at optimal ripeness. Etienne opts for natural vinification: spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, without corrections, in used French oak barrels for 12 months. Unfined and unfiltered. No sulphites.

Citrus fruit, juicy white peach or ripe pear, driven by tension and a saline mineral backround.

About the Producer

Etienne Thiebaud commenced making his own wine at Domaine des Cavarodes in the village of Cramans in the northern part of the Jura in 2007. He makes wines of amazing purity which reflect the terroir from which they come on either side of the Loue River and across to Arbois.

He only has 4.5 hectares of vines (ranging in age from 15 to 115 years old) which he farms organically but produces many cuvees from these small holdings. The wines are made as naturally as possible with the reds undergoing careful de-stemming by hand, semi-carbonic maceration and then maturation in large old barrels.

Key vineyards are Lumachelles which is in the commune of Mouchard just north of Arbois (where he has Chardonnay, Poulsard, Pinot Noir and Trousseau), Guille Bouton in Arbois (where he has Chardonnay) and Les Messagelins which is also in Arbois (where he has Trousseau).

Complimentary standard delivery on orders $100+ within 3 working days. For this option, we are unable to guarantee chilled delivery.

Next Day Delivery
Complimentary delivery on orders $150+, or $25 flat fee. Orders are delivered from 12pm - 8pm. Next day delivery cut off is at 12pm. Orders must be placed by 12pm to be delivered the following day. Orders placed after 12pm will be delivered the day after. No 'next day' delivery on Sundays; only 1-hour deliveries apply. 'Next day' orders placed after Friday 12pm will be fulfilled on Monday.

There will be no next-day deliveries on Sundays, public holidays or days that the store is closed, unless otherwise announced online.

1-Hour Delivery
Complimentary delivery on orders $300+, or $35 flat fee. Orders are delivered between 12pm - 4pm. Place order by 3pm latest to receive within the hour. Orders placed after 3pm cut off will be delivered the following day. Please expect delays with unfavourable weather conditions.
