100% Syrah, sparkling rosé

This delicious sparkling rosé comes from a long, gentle press of Syrah grown by their friends at Le Mazel. The wine began its life in cuve, finished fermentation in the bottle and spent a year on the lees before disgorgement. The result is a dry, lively pétillant with fine bubbles that carry delicate notes of red fruits, blood orange and spice.

Notes from Anders --

2023 is a vintage that fermented faster than any vintage we’ve ever seen. Most white wines finished the fermentation, before we had even started harvesting the reds. This sparkling rosé is a 12 hours direct press of Syrah. The following fermentation, for only a few days, took place in a fiberglass cuve and from there it went into bottles. In bottles the fermentation lucky slowed down and finished by creating the bubbles over winter. We have left this Pétillant Naturel on its lies for a little more than a year, which add a little bit of the bitterness. A bitterness that you normally find in wines with longer élevage in barrels. This brings us a less expressive and young fruits with smaller and more delicate bubbles. We have made the dégorgement in fall of 2024 just before the release.

About the Producer

The maverick artist of the Ardèche. For a winemaker, Anders Frederik Steen has an unconventional resumé. Before making wine, Anders was a trained chef who became a sommelier, working at Noma, then the highly acclaimed Relae and finally Manfreds. All iconic restaurants in his native Denmark.

In 2013, Anders moved to the Ardèche in order to make wine full-time. His partner-in-crime was his favourite winemaker and personal hero, the legendary and enigmatic Jura winemaker Jean-Marc Brignot. Together, they produced his first two vintages. In 2015, Jean-Marc Brignot left to focus on farming life in Sado, Japan whilst Anders remained with his family in the beautiful village of Valvignères to continue making wines.

Anders insists that his wines are made with “grapes and only grapes”. Whilst growing his own, he also sources his grapes from people he trusts, such as the neighbouring Oustric family of Domaine Le Mazel and the Bannwarth family in Alsace.

His daring non-interventionist attitude and experience informs his winemaking in that he does not seek to follow rules or conventions and does not feel the need to do the same thing every year. Instead, as he harvests, he taste the grapes and then begins to imagine the kind of wine he might be able to make.

As every year is different, the expressions of the grapes and terroir are never the same, and thus he adapts his approach accordingly. Names, blends, and styles change annually based on the flavours of the year’s produce. This is why he has never made the same wine twice.

This refreshingly free, creative approach yields wines that are truly one of a kind.

Next Day Delivery
Complimentary delivery on orders $150+, or $25 flat fee. Orders are delivered from 12pm - 8pm. Next day delivery cut off is at 12pm. Orders must be placed by 12pm to be delivered the following day. Orders placed after 12pm will be delivered the day after. No 'next day' delivery on Sundays; only 1-hour deliveries apply. 'Next day' orders placed after Friday 12pm will be fulfilled on Monday.

There will be no next-day deliveries on Sundays, public holidays or days that the store is closed, unless otherwise announced online.

1-Hour Delivery
Complimentary delivery on orders $300+, or $35 flat fee. Orders are delivered between 12pm - 4pm. Place order by 3pm latest to receive within the hour. Orders placed after 3pm cut off will be delivered the following day. Please expect delays with unfavourable weather conditions.
