Beaujolais // France

Prodigious wine son Theo Dancer’s first releases under his own name have landed. Neighbouring the Fleurie commune, the 2022 Gamay grows from a friend's Lancié vineyard on pink granitic soil and errs on the side of lo-fi and experimental. Lancié is bordered by Morgon, Moulin-a-Vent and Fleurie, but Dancer’s source lies closest to the latter.

Like his first vintage of this cuvee in 2021, the fruit was entirely destemmed in 2022 and the wine was aged in amphora and old cask. Think botanical florals and long, fine-boned red fruit. A superb example of Beaujolais: fine, pretty, red-fruited, long, complex and very easy to drink. Imagine a medium-bodied Fleurie, but with the complexity that amphora aging can bring.

About the Producer

To lovers of great white Burgundy, the name Dancer will hold real renown. Theo Dancer is the latest generation at work at the revered Chassagne-Montrachet based domaine Vincent Dancer. The young and energetic Theo has recently taken over operations at the family domaine (though still working alongside his father), and has recently launched his own negoce project, experimenting with fruit from regions outside the Cote d'Or. Theo sources local varieties from places such as the Jura and Savoie, as well as Chardonnay from the Maconnais (under the Roc Breïa label).

Everything under these labels is done with a focus on low extraction and early picking for cut and precision. Likewise, minimal intervention techniques such as natural primary and malolactic fermentations, neutral vessels for ageing and very low sulphur additions, are all part of the DNA with these very personal wines. Both the Theo Dancer and Roc Breïa wines are labelled as Vin de France, as they are brought back and vinified in the family cellars in Chassagne.

Next Day Delivery
Complimentary delivery on orders $150+, or $25 flat fee. Orders are delivered from 12pm - 8pm. Next day delivery cut off is at 12pm. Orders must be placed by 12pm to be delivered the following day. Orders placed after 12pm will be delivered the day after. No 'next day' delivery on Sundays; only 1-hour deliveries apply. 'Next day' orders placed after Friday 12pm will be fulfilled on Monday.

There will be no next-day deliveries on Sundays, public holidays or days that the store is closed, unless otherwise announced online.

1-Hour Delivery
Complimentary delivery on orders $300+, or $35 flat fee. Orders are delivered between 12pm - 4pm. Place order by 3pm latest to receive within the hour. Orders placed after 3pm cut off will be delivered the following day. Please expect delays with unfavourable weather conditions.
