Clos Bateau Croix Pen(n)et 2023
Lantignié / Beaujolais // France
A little fun fact: when Sylvie and Thierry look from their house toward the mountain in the direction of Regnie-Durette, they see a parcel of almost half a hectare that belongs to them. Interestingly, half of it is in Regnie and the other half in Lantignié. Both villages call it Croix Pennet, but only Lantignié spells it with two n's.
Gamay from a south-facing plot on the border of Lantignié and Régnié, Croix Pen(n)et has undergone 11-days of semi-carbonic maceration with 60% of the wine aged for 8 months in used Burgundy barrels and the remaining 40% in stainless steel vats.
A wine with aromas of ripe red fruit, a touch of wildness and great gastronomic flexibility.
