Jules Métras Chica 2022

Chica is the only vintage produced by Jules Métras in 2022. It came about as Jules lost the entirety of his harvest that year for the Bijou and Chiroubles vintages because of frost. So he crafted a Gamay blended with grapes from his friends Marc Delienne, Claire Chasselay, and Robert Denogent.

Son of the legendary Yvon Metras, Jules made his first wines in 2014. He makes the wine in much the same way his father does and side by side in the same cellar - the fruit, harvested relatively late, is cooled down before gentle, long, cool carbonic fermentation with natural yeasts in sealed concrete vats. The attention to detail meticulous with little notes in chalk written in code all along the various small cement tanks. And no sulfur, like his father.
