On the terraced slopes of the “Hochrain” in Wösendorf my Grüner Veltliner stands on deep loess. The wines here develop nutty and spicy with yellow-fruity aromas. Compared to the Veltliners from the primary rock, the “Hochrain” is a precise example of how much the soil influences the character of the wine.

Peter Veyder-Malberg has acquired a significant reputation inside and outside Austria as both a viticultural and marketing advisor. In 2008, he acquired exposed terraces with mainly old vines and restored them to protect them from being cleared. Although this entailed backbreaking handwork he was convinced that the qualities of the wines are so unique, full of character and spectacular that this work will be repaid many times over. Most of the vines are between 30 and 50 years old. All the vineyards are certified organic.
