MARTIN & ANNA ARNDORFER GRUNER VELTLINER PER SE 2021
Kamptal / Austria
-
The Arndorfers began experimenting with extended skin contact in 2012 with three varietals— Müller-Thurgau, Neuburger and Grüner Veltliner. “Per Se” is a radical experiment challenging the notion that orange wines cannot show varietal character. The Gruner Veltliner “Per Se” is an orange wine with a deep expression of pear, green apple, and aromas of white flowers with a touch of tannin. 14 days on skins and aged in old barrels with 16 months on the lees, this savoury wine is elegant, racy, and refined at the same time.

Martin Arndorfer comes from a long line of winemakers, and he grew up in the vineyards and cellar of his parent’s estate. Anna Stieninger is the daughter of Karl Steininger, one of the most respected winemakers in Austria. They are a wine power couple. Both born with a genetic love and a nurtured appreciation for for Riesling and Grüner Veltliner grapes. They started the “Arndorfer” label, with M & A on the label, which of course stands for Martin and Anna.
