Koerner The Clare Red 2020

Koerner The Clare Red 2020
Region: Clare Valley, Australia
Grape: 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc, 12% Malbec, 12% Grenache, 9% Carignan & 1% Sciacarello
A blend of Bordeaux varieties from the Clare Valley, made in a bright, crunchy fashion by the brothers Koerner. Elevated, elegant Clare Cabernets collab, and that's enough alliteration already. The base of this wine is a classic Clare Valley varietal marriage of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Cabernet Franc, with a splash of Grenache, Carignan and Sciacarello. But contrary to what those varieties usually produce from the Clare, this is a lively, juicy red wine ready to be tucked into immediately.
It's the Clare Valley viewed through the eyes of two younger generation locals who want the wines of their home to be vibrant and accessible and they are nailing their mission. Koerner Wine is a partnership between brothers Damon and Jonathan Koerner. The winemaking philosophy is very simple - that is the wines are made in the vineyard. The Koerners pick early and use very hands-off winemaking techniques. As a result, the wines are light, fresh, textured and well-structured with high drinkability in mind.
