Gut Oggau Timotheus is a natural white wine made with the Gruner Veltliner and Weissburgunder varieties by the Gut Oggau Austrian winery in the Burgenlang area (Neusiedlersee-Hügelland).

Gut Oggau is an estate located in the Burgenland province with a long winemaking history. But when Stephanie and Eduard Tscheppe took over in 2007, they began taking the vineyards in a completely new direction. All their vineyards have Demeter Association biodynamic certificates to get the most out of the vines’ characteristics. The wines are also made with minimal intervention. The result is a family of natural wines with a unique personality.

Gut Oggau Timotheus comes from 40-year-old strains planted in limestone, slate and gravel soil. They work to maintain the natural balance of the vines through ancient practices that respect the environment. When the grape reaches its optimum ripeness, it is harvested by hand.

In the winery, the Gut Oggau Timotheus grape is partially destemmed and macerated for 7 weeks. Alcoholic fermentation takes place with one third in open wooden vats and the remaining two thirds in 500-litre barrels without the skins. Then the wine is aged in wooden barrels for approximately 12 months. The wine is bottled without filtering or adding sulphites.

Gut Oggau Timotheus is a rich and aromatic white wine with a complex and deep character that comes from the powerful combination of the Gruner Veltliner and Weissburgunder native varieties, and is designated as the family’s firstborn.
