Origin: Burgenland, Austria
Grapes: Gruner Veltliner, Weissburgunder
A natural semi-skinsy blend of Grüner Veltliner and Weissburgunder from old, biodynamically farmed vines in Burgenland, Austria. The Timotheus blend its a textural, tactile wine that straddles the line between amber and white. It's a melding of Grüner Veltliner and Weissburgunder from 40 year old organic vines tended by the Gut Oggau duo. A third of the fruit spent three weeks on skins, while the rest was pressed straight to old oak. It's chewy yet remarkably fresh, showing spice and orange citrus characters alongside green apple and melon.
Gut Oggau is one of Burgenland's finest cult producers. Eduard Tscheppe & Stephanie Tscheppe-Eselböck took over Vineyard Wimmer, a 13-hectare estate near the banks of Lake Neusiedl, in 2007.
