De Struise Pannepot Reserva - Temple Cellars

After a lifetime of producing nice, but 'safe' beers, Pannepot is De Struise first step in the world of extreme beer. It has had a lot of trouble in making them what they have become now.

This 'Old Fisherman's Ale', named after the fishing boats on which tough sailors risked their lives for bread on the shelf, is somewhere between a Belgian strong dark ale and a stout. It pours a nice dark brown with a creamy collar. Each sip releases complex flavors from roasted coffee bitter and the deep sweetness of caramel. Due to its dark complexity, this beer lends itself perfectly to maturing in barrels, and that is what they did. Get it quickly!
