Origin: Martinborough, New Zealand
ABV: 13%
Grapes: Pinot Noir
A classic Martinborough style Pinot Noir - some would argue more structural than Marlborough, and closer to 'Burgundian' style. Spiced plums, strawberry and cherry (bordering on Kirsch) with a herbal, earthy kick that sets this apart. It’s lovely and textural, but minimal in its styling, which follows on from the simple manilla tag on the neck that serves as a label. 20% whole bunch, 16 months in barrel, no new oak employed. Bottled unfiltered and unfined.
Cambridge Road Vineyard were established in 1986, with the intent of making world class reds, specifically syrah and pinot noir from the Martinborough region. They use biodynamic and eco-farming principles, as well as minimal winemaking intervention. Their wines tell a story of care that follows through from a real sense of place.
