Tsugane Le Vent is the work of Eishi Okamoto of the Beau Paysage, a small winery in the hills of Yamanashi. With very little intervention in the vinification of this red wine blend. Destemmed traditionally and then macerated in stainless steel vats. No temperature control, no additions. Pressed grapes are then aged in oak barrels for a year. Bottling is done by gravity. Bold with medium plus tannins, dry and high acid. Soft and expressive with notes of nutmeg, oak and ripe cherry. Ripe with a herbal medicine note. Dark fruit, firm tannins. Yet still reasonably lightweight, vibrant and fresh.
