Origin: California, USA
Grapes: Syrah
Spicy and complex Syrah from 30-year-old vines in California's cool-climate Sonoma Coast region. A light touch is used in the winemaking, with native yeast and full whole cluster fermentation giving some aromatic lift and silky texture. Just under a year of ageing in neutral French oak lends a bit of roundness to the mouthfeel. Can drink now, but will just keep getting better over the next couple of decades.
Que Syrah Vineyard is a true gem on the Sonoma Coast. The vines were planted above the town of Occidental in 1994 by Al and Virginia Rago, about three miles from the Pacific at 850’ elevation. This is the oldest planting of Syrah on the Sonoma Coast.
One of the best examples of what Syrah is capable of on the Sonoma Coast. - 97 Points James Suckling
